Riddells Creek winners Lowden Family Shield at the CZ Gymkhana 2018
A gale was blowing for this year's Central Zone Gymkhana. We had hoped to introduce a showjumping class this year (to match the new PCA team event) but the wind was so strong, the wings blew away. But in the show rings, the riders determinedly turned their pony's heads into the wind and the show went on.
At the end of the day, the club with the most placing points - and so the winner of the traditional Lowden Family Shield - was Riddells Creek. Congratulations to Riddells Creek for the 4th year in a row!
Here are some RC riders waiting for the results.
Gisborne came 2nd in the Lowden Family Shield. They were all under 12 and dominated rings 1&2.
Kilmore came 3rd. Photos still to come.
We have a second shield which takes into account the size of the club. This year it was re-named the Russell Manton Memorial Shield. Russell was a parent who sadly passed away last year. He was active in encouraging participation in pony club activities in Central Zone and his wife, Leanne and daughter Madeleine spoke about his PC involvement and presented the shield to Truganina.(The smallest club present on the day.)
AV Penna Trophy
Two years ago we resurrected this trophy from early CZ Gymkhanas and this year it was presented to highpoint rider on the day - Madeleine Manton.
Thanks to Sunbury PC for again hosting the event. Thanks also to Ronnie Graham and his team of helpers who set up the grounds on Saturday. The organising behind the scenes was again managed by Sue Hollins and the CZ committee. Some more help on the event organising committee would be greatly appreciated.
