Haylea and Jayde senior dressage nationals 2017
The Central Zone riders and a club who were competing or finalists for an award at the PCA Nationals at Toowoomba succeeded admirably.
Our 3 riders in the senior dressage team were Haylea Wright, Jayde Kirkham and Astrid Vinycomb.
Haylea won all 3 tests and was overall champion. Jayde placed 3rd, 2nd and 4th and was 3rd overall.
This is Astrid's last year at Williamstown PC and she was so pleased to tick competing at the Nationals off her bucket list. Astrid also competed in 5 sections of the Formal Gymkhana - a new event for the Nationals. Here she is lined up with a Victorian colleague.
At the dinner on Wednesday night, the PCA national awards for the year were presented.
Chris Paton was a hugely popular winner of Junior Rider of the Year. Here he is shown with PCA officials at the presentation and being congratulated by proud Mum Janet and Katrina McDougall (DC of Gisborne PC - winning club of the year).
Chris is a valued member of Werribee PC and has had a most successful year as a mounted games rider, culminating in selection for the Australian mounted games team. He was a key member of the Victorian senior mounted games team which won at Toowoomba.
The final award of the night was for Club of the Year; and the winner was GISBORNE.
Here Katrina McDougall, the Gisborne DC proudly displays the trophy and winner's certificate. Katrina was joined in front of the PCA logo by Kerry Greig, secretary of Gisborne, and Catherine Ainsworth, executive officer of PCA. The program summary of the way Gisborne addressed the key selection criteria shows why the club was a worthy winner.
